Our Evangelist...
1 Tim 4:12-16 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in
word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.13 Till I
come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.14 Do
not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by
prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.15
Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your
progress may be evident to all.16 Take heed to yourself and to the
doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both
yourself and those who hear you.
2 Tim 4:1-5 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who
will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His
kingdom:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season.
Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.3 For
the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but
according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they
will heap up for themselves teachers;4 and they will turn their ears
away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.5 But you be
watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an
evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
My name is Daniel Starr, and I have been serving
this congregation as an evangelist since February of 2005. My wife,
Kristy, and I moved to Fort Wayne for this work in Feb '05 from
Aiken, SC, where I had served as the evangelist for the Church
of Christ on Dibble Road since the Summer of 1999. Kristy and I have
been married for nearly six years as of this writing. She is a
source of great strength for me.
Prior to my time in Aiken, SC, I worked
as an industrial technician and process engineer for several large
manufacturing companies in the Fort Wayne area. Realizing after
roughly 10 years in an industrial environment that it wasn't the way
I wanted to spend my life, I trained for 2 years to become a gospel
preacher under Ron Roberts. Ron worked with this congregation for
nearly 15 years and moved to Knoxville to work with the West
Knoxville church of Christ in November of 2004, creating the vacancy
here.
I love the work- this congregation has
been very supportive, very encouraging, and very hard-working. This
is a close family of Christians, and if you are looking for a church
that will stand firm in the Gospel, make use of your talents and
abilities, and challenge you to grow, I invite you to visit with us.
Ask some questions, get to know us and why we teach and practice the
things we do- I think you'll be impressed by many things, but
in particular, the way we handle God's word. If I can help you with
spiritual questions, e-mail me at starrzan@msn.com.
